KPMG Bursary Programme for Accounting Students 2027
KPMG South Africa offers bursary support to full time students pursuing a SAICA recognised qualification with the aim of becoming a Chartered Accountant. The programme has two options. The Pure Merit Bursary is assessed on academic results, while the Merit Bursary with Financial Need is intended for academically strong students who also require financial assistance. Students must be studying full time and must complete their qualification in the minimum number of years required by their programme.
The academic thresholds published by KPMG include four As in matric excluding Life Orientation for applicants at school leaving level. For first year students the published minimum is a 65 percent average and 70 percent for Accounting. For second year students the published minimum is a 65 percent average and 65 percent for Accounting. For third year students the published minimum is a 60 percent average and 60 percent for Accounting. For Honours or CTA students the published minimum is a 50 percent average and 55 percent for Accounting. Applicants should check that their degree is recognised by SAICA and that their current academic stage meets the relevant threshold.
KPMG asks applicants to submit an online application with the supporting documentation requested by the application portal. The firm determines which bursary option is appropriate and determines the award amount. The published programme also links the bursary agreement to entering a KPMG training contract after completion of the relevant studies and CTA or GDA qualification. Applicants should read the contract and funding terms carefully before accepting an award. KPMG states that bursary applications are currently open and that the annual application period runs from 15 September to 30 November.
