Sappi Bursaries and Scholarships

Sappi awards bursaries each year in fields aligned with its business skills needs. The programme supports South African school leavers and university students aged 18 to 25 who are studying or intend to study full time at an accredited South African university or relevant tertiary institution.

Published fields include Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechatronics, Forestry and Wood Science, Pulp and Paper, and Forestry qualifications at diploma level. Applicants must be South African citizens and meet the academic requirements stated by Sappi, including strong Mathematics and Physical Science results and the required English mark. Current university results may also be considered.

Sappi states that the bursary period is open from 1 March to 31 August and that recruitment takes place between October and November each year. The 2027 intake application period would therefore have closed on 31 August 2026. Applicants should check the official bursaries page for the next cycle and the current application portal.
