Babette Taute Honours Scholarship for 2027
The Babette Taute Honours Scholarship supports South African citizens and permanent residents who intend to study full time in a one year honours programme in English language and literature or applied language studies at a South African university. The scholarship is awarded on merit. A strong academic record is required, while the trustees may also consider leadership, cultural or social contribution, writing, publication, teaching and translation experience. The programme is intended for students who can show both academic ability and a meaningful commitment to the field.
The published award value is R50 000 per scholarship. The scholarship may be held alongside other awards provided that the combined value of awards does not exceed the total limit stated by the trustees. The value of the Babette Taute Scholarship can be reduced where necessary to comply with that limit. Applicants should check the current notice and application form for the documents required and for the conditions that apply to recipients.
The University of the Western Cape published the 2027 opportunity with a closing date of 20 November 2026. Applications are submitted by email to the contact identified in the official notice, with the second named contact copied. Applicants should ensure that the application and supporting documents arrive before the closing date.
